Details of West Ham’s £25m deal with West Brom for Jesse Lingard replacement emerge

West Bromwich Albion playmaker Matheus Pereira is West Ham United’s prime candidate to replace Manchester United Jesse Lingard with talks ongoing over a £25 million deal, according to The Express.

Lingard joined the Hammers on loan in January and returned to form in dramatic style – scoring nine times and adding five assists as he helped David Moyes’ side finish sixth in the Premier League table.

According to The Express, the east London club now expect the 28-year-old to stay at Man United this summer and have turned their attention to a potential replacement, Pereira.

It is understood that West Ham are in talks with the Hawthorns outfit over a £25 million deal for the Brazilian, which will be a loan move including an obligation to buy.

Chelsea’s Ross Barkley and Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also thought to be on Moyes’ radar.

Pereira has been an excellent signing for the Baggies since his 2019 arrival – having scored 20 goals and added 26 assists as well as helping them secure promotion in 2019/20 – but recent reports have suggested that new boss Valerien Ismael has frozen him out and hopes he leaves this summer.

The Verdict

It seems as though Pereira will be on the move this summer, with West Ham looking to raid the Championship for attacking talent once again.

Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma have both proven solid signings so far, and based on his 11 goals and six assists in the Premier League last term you feel the Albion winger is likely to have similar success.

Given Ismael is understood to be open to a loan move for Pereira, the structure of this deal looks like it works well for all parties and could provide the Baggies with a financial boost further down the line.

Given they already look like one of the frontrunners for promotion, that could be a shrewd move to make.

David Moyes really wants Manchester United defender, West Ham’s plan

West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester United defender Phil Jones on a free transfer, according to Eurosport.
What’s the story?

It is being reported this morning that United are open to letting Jones leave on a free transfer this summer.

West Ham are open to then signing the 29-year-old central defender as a free agent.

The Hammers’ plan is to offer Jones, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, ‘a highly incentivised contract next season’.

West Ham are open to making an offer to the English defender ‘that would be low in terms of a base contract but with enticing add-ons when he makes appearances.’.

Moyes worked with Jones when he was the manager of United.

Risky move

Jones has not played in the Premier League since January 2020.

Yes, the 29-year-old is reportedly keen to play, and yes, he is a quality player when fit and on firm, but if West Ham want to sign a central defender, then they would be better off looking at someone else.

The Hammers will play in the Europa League next season and will also be aiming to finish in the Premier League top four.

There is a chance that this could be the start of West Ham’s journey to the next level.

The Hammers need to bring in players who are not as risky as Jones.

Everton and West Ham face nervy wait over £26m target, admired by Klopp

Everton and West Ham could be forced to cool their interest in Gleison Bremer after the Torino defender sustained an ankle injury during pre-season training, per Calciomercato.

Bremer sustained the issue on Saturday morning as Il Toro prepared to face Brixen in a friendly. Ivan Juric’s side still won the tie 5-1 as they ramp up preparations for the new Serie A season. Those plans include facing Saudi Arabian side Al-Fateh on Tuesday afternoon.

But Bremer will not be available to face Yannick Ferrera’s visitors as he continues to sit out training. The Brazilian is not thought to have sustained any serious ankle damage, but it is enough to keep him off the pitches and away from his teammates.

Torino have not put a timescale on Bremer’s return, leaving Everton and West Ham with a nervy wait. The Premier League rivals are among a clutch of clubs to have shown interest in a transfer for the 24-year-old. That’s according to Toro News, who added Fulham to the list.

Each of the English trio have also seen Torino reject their offers for Bremer in the past. But Toro News expect them to revive their interest after the centre-half helped Il Toro avoid relegation. Liverpool were also a potential suitor in the past with Jurgen Klopp an admirer.

But the Reds’ £36m deal for RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate may take them out of the market. Especially as La Stampa report Torino doubled their valuation to £26m after Bremer shone – to earn interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona – during their difficult Serie A campaign.
Everton and West Ham face nervy wait over Torino defender Bremer

Everton and West Ham face a nervy wait to see how Bremer responds from his injury before advancing their interest in the Torino defender. Both are still in the market for a new centre-half, with Rafa Benitez facing difficulties in his rumoured pursuit of Clement Lenglet.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace look set to beat West Ham to Joachim Andersen. The Mirror reported the Irons’ interest in April, but Le Progress claim the Eagles lead the race after bidding £19m. Patrick Vieira’s side are also willing to pay £4m in add-ons.

West Ham and Everton missing out on alternative targets will be doubly disappointing if Bremer’s injury stops him leaving Torino. The Brazilian is a strong tackler who excels at dispossessing opponents, and could have been ideal for the Premier League.

Given either Pereira, Barkley or Oxo-Chamberpot I'd take Pereira any day. Barklay tends to start with a bang fir 6 months then do fuck all while Chamberpot is quality but another sicknote.

In response to the statement:
"There is a chance that this could be the start of West Ham’s journey to the next level" rearrange the following words int a well known phrase or saying: "Dawn. False. Fucking. Another." It's the West Ham way.

MPI 2.28 completely agree - I think Lingard would only sign if Rice is staying - he knows that Rice has got 1 more season max and he’s gone.

At Lingards age he is looking for one last big 5 year contract on £100k plus and at 28 I don’t think that is value for us.

Also he is sort of accepting that his trophy years are pretty much over and I would question his motivation.

He did a great job it worked great short term but long term I could see it not continuing so well.

Pereira would still have hopes of a big move so would be more motivated as looking for a step up rather than back.

I think he could be a little bit Payet like - I’d rather take that punt.

Wouldn’t be unhappy with Lingard but I don’t see it happening and I would like to see what this Periera could do.

I'm sure Moyes can get a tune out of Jones in the same way he has out of Dawson. The question is whether the financial package required would be good value.

Ta Al.

Moyes will seriously go down in my estimation if he brings Jones in. He is, without doubt, the biggest joke of a pro-footballer ever. Very lucky to have been at Man Utd in the first place.

A complete fucking car wreck.

Weighing that one up myself if he can get that record whilst working in an aging immobile WBA side got to assume he will thrive under us.

Phil Jones would offer cover both at the back and defensive midfield if needed. For a free I actually think it could be worthwhile, if his wages arent crazy.

I think he's younger than Lingard by a few years. I'd get him in if Lingard is pissing about. Actually i'd just get him in instead of Lingard.

Re: Tuesday newspapers (includes West Ham)
Lingard seems to have settled on being a number for Man United living close to his daughter rather than being a demi God for West Ham.

His wages would have been a problem for sure, as would any conditions on Rice being part of the discussion.

I notice the article mentions Lingards age but not Peireras. How old is he.

Re: Tuesday newspapers (includes West Ham)
Not sure why West Brom would want a loan and a sale in 12 months for Pereira .... ie just like the original Benrahma deal

Jones always looked physically suspect (ie a fat cunt) anyway but if he hasnt played for over 18 months I suspect he'd arrive on the back of a reinforced lorry.
No thanks

FANKS ALAIN

Why would we be paying 25m for a player that Brom only wanted 15-20m for at the start of the window?

Why would Brom be 'freezing out' their best player by a country mile?

Why do we appear to be shopping at the toilet bowl end of the market for every other player we're linked with? Ugly Kid Jones, some ageing Dane etc...

Anyone else slightly concerned that this Phil Jones rumour isn't going away?

He's shit.
